"Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

I didn't see it but I would have taken the $600,000. Rough estimate of an auciton fee for such an item would run around 30%, then if he got $750,000k he would net $525,000.

Cool story though!

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

The last two guitars on Pawn Stars were shady. Ex 80's rocker brings in a vintage Les Paul... Jesse from Cowtown guitars (expert) comes in and evaluates, they go back and forth but in the end he's going to keep it for sentimental reasons.

Truth:
The guy actually works for Cowtown guitars, he brings a vintage guitar from their inventory down for filming, and there was (probably) no intention of a transaction. Makes for interesting TV, and showcases a cool guitar, but that's it.

I remember that show. It's been a long time since I've seen it though.

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

Ive seen the one where someone brings in a '61 white SG owned by Mary Ford. Cool episode.....even if 90% of it is more than likely fake

I think I read someplace that Jesse had that guitar at his shop for sale as well. Then he comes in like it's a big deal for him to see it. It's too bad that you have to be suspicious of these "reality" shows. It would be nice to think all that cool stuff just wandered into the shop, but it seems like a lot of it is staged.

I mean you just kind of have to take it for what it is with a grain of salt. Its still fun to watch, but ya, its all BS. I always like the episodes where someone beings something in and they play it off like its worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.....then they bring in their "expert" and uh oh......its worth $10 haha

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

They probably make more money off of show-merch than the actual store. Most of it has to be BS. Especially their filmed interactions.

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

I heard from people that have actually been to the store, that Rick all of them on the show aren't even hardly at the store for the real customers off camera

Re: "Lost" Hendrix Studio Strat on Pawnstars

I visited the store last time I was in Vegas- 75% of the store was selling Pawn Star souvenirs and merchandise, and it was filled with it. None of the staff from the TV show were there
