Loudest halfstack combination in existence

Re: Loudest halfstack combination in existence

good point fender boy. If you're gonna play a big gig, they probably have PA to cover the loudness factor. You could only own a 30 watt combo and still have enough volume, as all you need to do is mic the amp. Tone is really more important, loudness in an amp, in my opinion, is desired for bragging rights to satisfy our masculinity...oh YEA!!

The loudest I can think of have already been mentioned

...Marshall SLP 100 Plexi Reissue. Stage volume at 2.

I have the the RI Marshall 100-watt SLP 59 (with Mullards) with a 4X12 w Vintage 30's and it's over 130 dB SPL at 7 feet. I'd bet some of those 200-watt modded Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore Plexi's would burn down your entire neighborhood esp with two 4X12's ! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I had one of those monsters. I think mine may have had Celestion speakers, but I'm not sure, that was 20 years ago. It sounded good, and it got extremely loud when need be.

Re: Loudest halfstack combination in existence

If you ever want to have some fun, try a couple of those halfstacks, or even fullstacks, and run them in stereo as loud as they'll go. In a rehearsal room of course.
Just for kicks, I've done it with all the guitar rigs in my rehearsal room (two bands).
When, I plugged into the 120W Bogner and another guy's JMP-1/100-100 rack rig, and ran them in stereo, it was almost scary to pluck a note. With both amps cranked, I had earplugs and still had to walk into the hallway to really play. I had 4 4-12 cabs going at the same time. It was stupid loud!

Yup, he now uses his ENGL signature amp.

The loudest I've seen is that 300w Crate Voodoo, but that Ampeg has to take the cake.

EDIT: Try telling the ampeg guy that you can gig with a PA and a 30w combo. :haha:
