Love.....

Raging BB Gunologist
Just scored a MkIII combo (red stripe).

SimulClass, EQ, 'Verb, 200w EV, and two pedals (Rhy1/2 and Rhy/LD)

I'd type more....but I'm vibrating in my chair wanting to go play more.

Re: Love.....

Wow you should do some real damage. The RED are considered very good.

3 gorgeous channes of BRUTALITY! WOO HOO!

May I recommend a HOT PLATE? You won't regret it as an extra option, esp in the studio or at smaller venues.

ANYONE WANNA COMMENT ON HOW SIMUL CLASS DIFFERS FROM THE 100w 6L6 in tone and feel?

Already have some...and yes, I've been using it.....can't get those thick as hell palm mutes without a little overdrive. :headbang:

I'll get pics up shortly.

Re: Love.....

Yo, SD, have you noticed a large improvement using the attentuator with your Boogie? I haven't had the opportunity to open up the master volume on Mark (don't know if I ever will! 2 is fukking loud!).

Just wondering if it'd been a nice compliment towards my amp.

Thanks.

I don't want to say just yet....let me get back to you on that tommorrow after I've had some more time with it both attenuated and unattenuated.

Re: Love.....

Awesome!
Wow, the black shadow says Electro-Voice...where they made by EV in the earlier days then by celestion? If so, what did one end/the other start?

Re: Love.....

So far as I know, the EVM was always made by Elecro-Voice. From what I've read they only stopped using them 'cause they stopped making them.

Re: Love.....

Running it with both the 4x12 and the combos speaker produced a very cool, 3D sorta sound with the combo providing a very cutting tone and the 4x12 (Vintage 30s) providing alot of warmth.....this is at somewhat low volumes (you'd have to talk somewhat loud to be heard over it), we'll see how it performs at gig volume later this week.

Running it with a Hotplate used moderatly (-8db) and the lowering amps master volume produced a better "bedroom" (still loud) tone than cranking the amp up and attenuating down to -16db. That said, the amp did sound reasonably good without the Hotplate and turned down to bedroom volumes.....not quite as thick, but still reasonably good. Certain mixtures of settings seem to exagerate the volume drop between R1 and R2, and others seemed to minimize it....now if only I could remember which was which.

I haven't had a chance to run it full boar yet....those results will come later.

Re: Love.....

Nice score, I have two Mark III and I love them. I think they are one of the best gigging club amps ever made.

Enjoy.

Re: Love.....

Yeah, the red stripe mark III... My dad had one, says that the third channel could out crunch a Marshall.

I'm curious about that hot plate, as these, like most amps, want to be cranked.
