low E string open sounds just like a piano - weird

just setup the a walnut mahogany tele with buckers and hardtail bridge

when the the open E is struck it has a "piano" or acoustic like tone
piano is the only way i can describe it
there are overtones or modulations almost like a mild chorus effect
the A and other strings have a straight up tone as does the E when fretted
when i hit the open E and let it ring in front of a amp thats open around 50% you can hear it pick up the overtone and turn it into feedback

never heard anything like it before
it seems more pronounced on the neck pup
tried 3 different amps and recut the nut

just though i would ask if you have any ideas why its like that
to get a understanding of what is happening

Recently, I tried out a MIM strat at a local store and I think I experienced the same thing.

The open note on the G-string had this really acoustic and chorus like snap to it. It was only on this string and really obvious compared to the others. I have no idea why this was occurring.

i doubt this is it, but have you tried to lower the neck pup further from the strings? i would usually say a piano tone from the low e isnt a bad thing but it doesnt seem like you like it

Maybe that's the sympathetic resonant frequency for that particular guitar.

so its common?
i guess with a new build i am pretty sensitive to it...

Did she smile afterwards?

I think maybe the surprise butt-secks after ripping off her thong may have been the reason she made all of those strange noises.
