Yo brothers ,
after triyng an Ibanez super 70 pickup ( dc = 7.5 to 8 kz , alnico 8 magnet )
i came to the feeling that a Jazz or 59' with alnico8 would be killer ; let me explain why .
Those super 70 are low ouput but they are so full EQ wise ( no mid dip here , big defined basses and thick and chimy highs ) that it is surprising , they are loud and crunchy with palm mute .
It is the same difference you notice when you go from a C5 to a Custom : full sound , but alnico 8 is not harsh like ceramic , it is as powerfull but harsh highs are replaced by violin chimer on top , very pleasant .
So low ouput with alnico8 is like a very nice idea if you can cross over the vintage raw tone of alnico 5 with the mid dip .
And a Screaming Demon with A8 should be top class for metal , woofy , full , precise and loud ( SD still have this mid dip ) .
As for the Custom with alnico8 it should be like a Custom but less agressive , more singing .
