Low wattage tube around a Grand?

I have a friend looking to get into a low wattage tube amp, and he's coming to me for advice so naturally I come here.

Slash is a pretty big inspiration of his, and musically he likes a lot across the board, but really leans towards more metal.

He lives in an Apartment building so he can't push an amp, but he does want something that can move a bit of air if need be.

Head and Cab or Combo either will suffice. He's been looking at halfstacks but he doesn't play out or anything so there isn't much point in him having one other than Wanting one.

So.... Yeh... Not a lot of info there, but maybe you can help me help out a friend.

How bout an orange rocker 30:naughty: That's what I've got, it has some pretty sweet tone at low volumes. I rarely turn it up over 3 and it rips especially when pushed with a TS9. The mesa express 5:50 is another good choice but a little more than a grand. The new line6 spyder/bogner one is supposed to be pretty cool although I haven't tried it.

What type of music does your buddy play?
