Lowering G&L Bridge

Hey I've got a question about lowering the action on my guitar. Included are some low quality (sorry) pictures of my bridge. My teacher told me that the two allen wrench sockets can be turned a quarter turn each and that will lower my action. I'm sure that part will work fine, my question is: is that okay for the neck/ the rest of my guitar? In general, changing action requires setup and all that fun stuff so I figured it couldn't be that easy, but I've never had a bridge like this so if you can help it would be much appreciated!

You probably should try to find an owners manual, which includes a good setup guide.

FWIW, I don't think I've ever needed to lower the bridge. I would go through the setup routine first. IMO, it's more likely you just need a truss rod tweak.

okay thanks. yeah "lowering bridge" was my awkward way of saying "lowering action" but i'll definitely look for an owner's manual

If your action is high, and your saddles are adjusted all of the way down, then it's ok to lower the bridge. It's better to lower the bridge than to shim the neck. The guitar will sustain better if you retain the wood to wood contact between the neck & body. Shimming will decrease sustain. You will need to recheck the harmonics.
