Lowest output humbucker in production?

I'm curious to know what the lowest output current production humbucker you've encountered is that is still an actual humbucker and not a P90 or Filtertron or mini humbucker or goldfoil.

Not asking about lowest DCR reading, but lowest actual output level.

SD Antiquity?
DiMarzio EJ Custom?
Lollar low wind Imperial?
BKP Stormy Monday?
OX4?

Something else?

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Well, EMG's would be up there......given they need a preamp to get the pickup's signal to usable levels.

Other than simply knowing how much the lowest could possible be......is there any practical reasoning behind the question??

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Some sort of lipstick p'up would be my guess.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Aren't those normally single coils?

Yeah, but they are usually wound differently. It's not uncommon to see one in the 3k DCR range and they are often so bright that they require an A6 magnet to tame the highs.

Edit: my bad, I read your post, started thinking, snd then forgot your requirements. The lowest output HB I've ever seen is the Duckbucker, if we're going by how the pickups were meant to be wired.

If we are talking outside the box... I have a Rose Picasso (Alnico 5 pole WRHB clone) at 10k, which has lower apparent output than a great many actual single coils.

WRHB?

EDIT: Ah wide range. Interesting I would have thought those would sound hotter than singles. I found your thread talking about them. I'll take a listen since I'm curious.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Vintage Rails/Duckbucker, but for two coils without any dummy poles/blades, the DiMarzio Cruiser Neck is the weakest I can think of.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Yeah, the Duckbucker or Vintage Rails has a pretty low output, and is a humbucker. You can also get the Custom Shop to custom wind a real-sized humbucker with low output. I wonder if a Duckbucker could be put into a 3+3 humbucker casing...hmmmm...

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

So I was really thinking of lowest output alnico magnet, series wired passive humbuckers without any dummy coils/poles/blades. That said, it has been interesting to learn about these others. Didn't know about the Duckbucker.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

Don't confuse ceramic-loaded single-sized humbuckers with high-output full-sized humbuckers.

...but since you mentioned it: the Pearly Gates For Strat Neck, though it's only an assumption.

If boutique is okay, look for Zhangbucker's telecaster neck humbucker. It works in the neck with a single coil bridge pickup.

Right, and ceramic loaded single coil sized humbuckers aren't really what I had in mind when I started the thread. Though I think they're interesting pickups.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

What did you have in mind? What's the application?

I'm just curious out of the various options out there and the various humbuckers advertised as "low wind", which are the lowest. As I mentioned in post #13, I'm mainly thinking of series wound, passive alnico humbuckers, without blades or dummy coils or poles, and full sized.

Re: Lowest output humbucker in production?

The Skinnerbursts are pretty weak. Another possibility is some of the original PAFs. I once played a set of 1961 PAFs that were almost in single coil territory in terms of output.
