Re: LP Experts...This Legit?
Is it being sold as a 1992? Or 2012? BTW, 2012 models should not get similar prices to 2011 or 2013 and later issues, due to the less desirable layered fingerboards Gibson used in 2012.
I would like to see a photo of back of the headstock and the serial number, but it looks legit to me. Another place to look is under the neck pickup, so see if it has a long tenon neck joint. Looking under the bridge pickup should give you the Gibson model codes. And there should be an "R9" stamped in the control panel. Certainly all of the extras, case, hang tags and such look real.
I do have some concerns about the dark back, these are USUALLY red-stained mahogany; but dark backs do exist. It could just be lighting, or camera colors.
But some people are doing really clever fakes these days, and it can be hard to tell from just photos. Sometimes you can tell a Japanese or Chinese fake simply by--the smell, of all things! I have detected several fakes this way over the years; I think it's the glue they use.
Pretty guitar. I love my Historics.
Good luck.
