Re: Lp jr GAS.

I didn't get the chance to plug in the bja, but unplugged I loved it. If i had more time, I woulda plugged it into one of the mesas that they had laying around. A few weeks ago I did plug in the cheaper lpjr, into a 6505 I think, (honestly the closest thing they had to my single rec) and loved that too. But I kinda dig the double cut, and it might just be because I'm still young, but I love Green Day still to this day with a passion. I've got other guitars that give me all the versatility I've yet needed.

As for the dean, I ave yet to find a single dean I have liked for more than a few days.

^^Exceptions to every rule my friend.

Nobody, and I mean nobody wields a LP Junior better than Leslie West.

Re: Lp jr GAS.

The only weak point of the LP Jr DC is the bridge. The stock bridge is terrible. I replaced mine with a Pigtail and it made a HUGE difference in tone and intonation.

And I would argue that this is the most kick-a** guy to wield a JR:

A double-cut LP Jr. Is pretty much the only guitar I've had any kind of GAS for recently.

Shame they're ****ing impossible to find in lefty.

Re: Lp jr GAS.

Judging by the Gibson product description, the H90 is pretty much a P100 under an assumed name.

On the other hand, "two stacked coils with a few tweaks" could describe a Duncan STK-P1. Perhaps, Gibson bought the BJA pickup in from a mystery outside source. :scratchch

Regrettably, either way, disappointment lies. Only a true single coil P90 can deliver the mojo.

Re: Lp jr GAS.

I wish Gibson made a standard production double cutaway Les Paul Junior Special in alpine white, like this. I bet they'd sell a ton of them if they were priced in the $1200 range.

My God, I need that guitar! A white LP Special DC is my dream guitar.
My white SG Special 60s Tribute is close enough tho. :P

Re: Lp jr GAS.

As soon as I saw that you'd posted in this thread, I knew you'd be feeding my GAS.

Shame I can't afford Custom Shop prices.

Try looking for used - you can usually knock more than a couple hundred off those prices. Regardless, a great Junior is gonna cost you because it's tonal quality is so dependent on the sum result of it's materials - it's such an elemental design. The better the parts used, the better the guitar.

I bet you could find one under $2k if you hunted long enough. :fing2:

Re: Lp jr GAS.

Schulte JR. Good bridge, Duncan Dogear P90 II, and lots of good tones. LOVE 8.5 on the controls.
