Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

woah...that's odd...did you give the new buyer the old pickguard off the guitar? if so, he sold it separate on ebay back in april. and yes it does have a very very vey tiny little what seems to be finish crack near the neck pocket on the top...i cant see any glue though...all my strats have this lol. do you remeber if the buyer was in Al...if so, this may be your old guitar lol...it's pretty much mint though and very nice. whats your ebay s/n i want to see if he bought it from you or not, i'm curious now lol. also, what gauge strings did you use on it b/c the seller doesnt seem to know too much about guitars and wasn't 100% sure and the strings look like they haven't benn changed in a while...plus the setup is great, just strings are old, i want to use the same gauge b/c it's a real nice setup!

HAHAHAHAHAHA i just read all his feedback and chcjunior is on there as a seller back in feb of 03 lol...is that when you sold it? if so i think this was yours lol.

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

My ebay name is the same as the forum...."chcjunior". No glue was visible on the outside of the guitar....it was applied on the inside of the pocket to stabilize it (we were concerned it would run being made of basswood).

I don't recall where he lived, but I did include the mirror pickguard when I sold it. It was a little scratched as the tech used it as a template for the custom made pickguard. When I had it set up, it was set up for 10's.

This is really weird. I found my Ebay pics but they're too big to post here.

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

hmmm wonder if he used the same pics...is this one of them...i'm 99% sure it was yours lol

Yep...that's when I sold it. It was a great guitar....I just didn't bond with it, largely due to the fact I've discovered I don't use the whammy bar often, and I am partial to full size humbuckers.

At least it finally found a good home!

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

oh, did you have the tech counter sink the toggle switch screw holes by chance b/c these are...also there is some visable copper shielding sticking out past the guard...very tiny, where you just see the edge of it...

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

this is so funny that it made it's way from a forum member in PA to a random guy in AL to another forum meber here in NY lol...

well, very nice guitar man...i guess he did change the setup b/c it as a 52 low E, he wasnt sure if the high was a 10 or 11 though...no complaints with the 52 low e i have that on all my teles so i guess 10-52s will go on it!

it's a great guitar and i' real happy with it so far...i just want to get a mirror guard back on it!

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

it sure is lol...well it's been saved from AL and is in good hands here in NY!!

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

One other thing I think I recall is we had to put sleeves on the pot stem as the knobs wiggle a little bit....so that way the screw would get more purchase when you tightened the knob. And I just checked the receipt from the tech...he set it up for 11's.

Crazy stuff right here....I just showed my girlfriend the thread and she asked why I was posting pictures of my old guitar!

Re: Lucky guitar #13 has landed...

it is 11's i just laid a set of 11-49's against each string and it looks to be 11s...perfect at least now i wont have to do a major setup when i take off the strings and polish the frets!

funny you mention the wobbly knob b/c the volume knob was a bit wobbly when it got here so i tightened it up...i'll see if the sleves are still there when i do the setup on it.

well, thanks for selling a great guitar so i can buy it after the last guy lol.

I've discovered whenever I sell a guitar, I actually find myself wondering where it is months later. Weird, I know, but I've learned as much as I like to buy them, man, I hate selling them!

I'm psyched it found a good home!

Congrats.

I actually think the pickguard looks good in the full shot.
