Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M

Just acquired this, in "Classic" mode, just what you'd expect from a fuzz, mid-rangey, not splatty at all, it has the "Satisfaction" tone all over it. Switch into "Modern" mode, and you get a really nice, tight, distortion, not fuzzy until you dime the "Attack" knob. I'm testing this thru amps I would only use for clean tones (VOX AC30, Fender Twin), and I must say that I'm impressed!

I have one of the original Maestro Fuzz Tones I got just after Satisfaction came out. I think the model number is FZ-1, but I don't remember. I, of course don't play it, it's in a display case in my music room. I did play it a lot in my band up until the late 60s-early 70s. It's one of the earliest commercially made fuzzes (if not THE first) that I'm aware of. Great stomp.
