What style of music do you play - high gain, low gain, rock, blues, etc? And what pickup is it?

I've never repotted my pickups after a mag swap and have had no issues with feedback.

Hair Metal, Hard Rock. I have Duncan JB2 but with A5 sounded better. Alnico 2 is less transparent and has more sloppy low end. I go for A5 but in a future I will try ceramic magnet too.

I've swapped magnets a zillion times and never once re-melted the wax. Not an ounce of trouble here.

I've swapped magnets dozens of times, never added wax or used a blow drier. Because I'll sometimes try two or even three magnets in a pickup, I have some HB's that have the covers back on, but not soldered, and have had no feedback issues onstage. It takes very little wax to prevent feedback.

If I have covers I will run the hairdrier over it to help ease it back in the cover, and this sets the wax as said above. For uncovered, don't worry about it. Only thing is don't use needle nose pliers to pull out a ceramic mag like I did once- I chipped the magnet and had to get a new mag. Alnico is metal so no problemo there.

You don't need to remove any wax when taking a magnet out, so why would you need to add wax or repot the pup when you put a magnet in?!
Like many others on this forum, I have done more mag swaps than I can count and have never had to repot a pup...even for reseating a cover.

It makes no sense to me- isn't it the coil wire that the wax fixes in place?

^ No actually, its only part. A lot of the squeal can come from bits not fully flush......tele ashtray bridges and squeal is a separate example of issues caused by mechanical vibration. Similarly the baseplate/magnet//keeper plates/bobbins all need to be firmly together - especially in high gain applications.
