Magnet swap G&L P-90 Wax or Glue

I was wanting to swap the magnet in my bridge pickup for an al-2 or al-5, but when I pulled it out it looked like it was glued on the back. If any of you know anything on these pups let me know please. My guitar is a G&L asat tribute special and it has the two soapbar pups.

Thanks

I believe they use a ceramic bar magnet. I know the polepieces are adjustable. I probably would not change magnets until I heard from others who have sucessfully done so.

The only info I could find on them is they are made by fullerton and have a ceramic magnet.

Generally, pickups are wax potted, so it's not a big deal to swap the magnet. Just make sure you have the magnet facing the same direction as the old one, and when you put it back together, zap it with a hairdryer to reset the wax.

I have heard of a few pickups being potted with epoxy, but it's pretty rare. It's most likely just hardened wax, not glue.

Would you warm it up a little to make sure it is wax holding it together before pulling it apart.

I beleive they use 6 individual magnets.

Leo said that their magnets are still the poles themselves, but are designed to be wound in only one pole(north/south) rather than aroudn the center like older Fender pickups.
