I have not dug into the 500T yet, but I do have an Alnico V magnet with the pickup's name on it. If I do decide to do the swap, is all I need two maple spacers like on the 496?

Yes for the spacers. I took the mags out of my 500T, put in regular-size spacers, and an A8 mag, which basically gave me an A8 498T. If you want more dynamics, put an UOA5 in it, which I eventually did.

Thanks. What about the keeper bar in the 500T? Is it the normal keeper bar, or a double thick one?

Gotta know because I'm gonna make another order from Mojo for two maple spacers and some more bobbins, and I want to get the keeper bar too if it is needed.

BTW, I had a good experience with Mojo. I made a mistake on my order. I called up and got a person in 10 seconds, and the problem was taken care of in 30 by a friendly employee. The products are all good quality AFAICT. Shipping was quick and items were well packed.

At any rate, so much for chasing my tail and/or exercises in futility. The Alnico V 496R is a big-time keeper. And we shall see what happens with the 500T.

Mine didn't have a keeper. I stole one from a JB I had sitting around.
