Magnet Swapping and Microphonics

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to swap out the Alnico5 mag in my custom5 for a ceramic bar, making it a Custom.

Have any of you ever had microphonics probelems after a magnet swap?
I know some other pickups I've tried that we're constructed well (and had moving magnets, etc) have had bad bad microphonics.

Is that the case with a humbucker mag swap, or is the whole contraption, when screwed back together, nice and tight?

Any help would be great, before I go tearing apart a $70 pickup. haha.

well I did the magnet swap thing a while ago and when all was said and done I had a microphonic pickup, all you really have to do to cure this is take a blow drier and heat up the back of the pickup. This causes the wax to melt and reform within the pickup and will generally solve the microphonic issue.

I Have A Ground Hum When I Touch The Metal Cover On My Bridge Pickup After A Magnet Swap. Any Cures?

I've wrapped magnets in wax paper and it works,but I prefer to melt the wax with a hairdryer...Just until the wax turns clear and watery looking...Most of the microphonic problems I've ever run into,have been because of an air gap between a cover and the bobbin tops though..

Sounds more like a ground problem and not the pickup itself..

i didnt have any problems when i flipped my mag in a 59 .. no microphonics before or after

I recently did the same thing with no problems. I love the custom much more too.

interesting...about the air gap inbetween the cover and coil...

Do you think perhaps some of the microphonics I was getting from a RioGrande Bluesbar had to do with the plastic soapbar cover not being "tight" enough? That seems like a pretty ridiculous reason for microphonics, being that the plastic cover isnt conductive or serving any purpose other than to protect the coil...
