I've never swapped on these pickups, but I do own a couple of PGb and PG+ pickups.
The difference is that the PG+ is a bit hotter and has an alnico V mag compared to the alnico II on the PGb.
The PG+ has more top end chime, a bit less of the "sizzle", and a tighter, bigger bass. They're not worlds apart, but if you run a hot, dark amp or need more chunk in the palm mutes, go with the PG+ over the PG.

I had an Alnico 2 Pro neck that I put an Alnico 5 in once. Sounded pretty good -- really big tone.
