Re: Magnets-Magnets-Magnets
i read in some gibson propaganda (for the zoot SG) that the 500T uses ceramic 5 for it's mags; given this info i would lean towards the assumption that ceramic 5 is used in the invader and distortion, but i'm obviously not certain... what say you, Pepe?
To use certain grade of magnet, ANY kind of magnet, depends on what's the deal economic with the supplier.
I don't have any actual info on Gibson magnets supplier, but looking at the past I'd say whatever is cheapest. What grade is just an accident. And because ceramics don't get demagnetized the way AlNiCo mags do, it might be that they got a big supply of those mags when they were the cheapest to produce and they've been using'em ever since.
Nowadays(to use as an example), Gibson is publicizing their use of Franklin Titebond glue. This can only mean that their Marketing force it's outsourced.
Duncan, OTOH, has a history to carefully choosing their suppliers, so they've been able to produce their products within the design's specs with great consistency for many, many years.
To close it, I don't like the sound of ceramic magnets in passive guitar p'ups. Never have, never will. That's why I can't give more info 'bout any product using ceramic magnets, as they don't interest me.
So what was the question again...? :naughty: :joke:
