It blew after an few hours of playing last Saturday so I changed it tonite with a new one and it blew right away on turning the amp on. I put another and it blew again instantly.
What else can be blown to keep blowing the mains fuse?
Something else must of blew with the fuse the first time.
It ****ing sucks because I have a gig this Saturday and my main amp is down. :grumble:

A bad power tube will do that. Not sure what amp you are using. Remember if it's a tube amp, 95% of all tube amp problems have something to do with the tubes.

oops, saw the 1987x in teh title. Check your power tubes.

Fuses are indicators. In this case, the indication is that something is probably wrong with your power section.

Thanks guys. Will be testing with the powertubes out tomorrow. Hopefully its just that. A pair of new tubes with a rebias is what the doctor ordered.

Before you pop in a new set of tubes, try the amp with the tubes pulled. If the fuse remains intact, that's another hint that it was a tube.

If you do re-tube, I suggest you check out a set of Mullards.

Rich is right. I should have pointed that out. troubleshooting 101. Start pulling things one at a time and then put them back in to see what causes the fuse to blow.

If you pull the chassis out, check the big resistors that come off the power tubes and see if one of them is charred.
