Does anyone else find the term "mainstream rock" ironic?

How does something with its roots in youthful rebellion become mainstream? It might go a long way towards explaining the homogenization of popular music.

I think it is the same thing as accountants and lawyers buying Harleys. Being a biker is a weekend fantasy camp for some.

I can't stand the radio. So I don't listen. I bring my mp3 player with me everywhere. At home I listen to my CDs, and I am constantly looking for new exciting music. I don't watch mtv or vh1...its ok to turn it off. It is the single most powerful thing you can do to corporate radio. Especially if you are a male, 18-26.

MTV, VH1, radio, record companies, etc dont exactly play what sociaty wants to hear. They have a way of finding a band, The band gets popular (somehow) than they find other bands that sound the same way. I am sick and tired of this three cord, muddy, dark songs that keep playing. One other thing I am tired of also, These same companies try craming "artists" down our throuts. For instance, Andrew WK. He was on every radio station, every thing on mtv and VH1 and I wouldnt even call his one song a hit. Good for him but, What a douch bag!!!!!! What is the deal? I dont know who is a bigger douch, Andrew WK, Estaban , Tony Little (the gazzle), Billy mays (oxy clean) Or John basbow (the six pack abs infomercial guy)!!!!

yea that john basedow guy is a douche bag, notice how he arches his back all the time so his abs show more. Sometimes i think his head is pasted onto that body.
