Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Aceman

It's Sherwin Williams is the store and the brand of paint is emerald and the color is electric lime green! Hope this helps.

Cool! We have those here. I was worried it was some Great White North brand…

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

On Sunday I am doing 2 or 3 more coats then I am doing a gloss coat on top. Then start putting it back together.
Go slow take your time. I recommend waiting over night and sanding between coats. I probably waited 48 hrs, but not sure. I know I did that. Dont rush, and you will enjoy the results.

Edit: I am looking forward to this and am following this thread.

The funny thing, this paint we are using is a flat finish so it dries hella fast! It was done drying the first coat to touch in 1 hour.

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Aceman I thought we went over this... My Seymour Duncan blackouts, I may buy new pups but I already need a set for some of my ibanez currently pickup less...

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Nice paint job btw. I am getting a cheap rip off strat and I am doing a EVH black/white clone (my version) soon when I am done this. I need to buy 2 maple necks tho to match. But ill get everything looking cool soon. :)

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Stupid question, is that paint just off the shelf paint you can get at a hardware store? I was wondering if there was any 'wrong' paint, to avoid painting a guitar with.

oh - yeah…cool! Wel, hot, actually.

But you ARE going to paint the cover hot pink, right?

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

That is going to be soooo totally 80's. I love it! <3

I agree, it needs PINK pickups!!!!

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

I like how no one is mentioning it needs a maple fretboard! I am baffled

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

Pink Pickups will look cool . and since they are actives, if I am not wrong they should be easy to paint.

Re: Making my cheap guitar AWESOME!

really? I don't recall seeing many "80s shred guitars" with ebony boards, I would think more maple fretboard...

I was speaking purely in terms of nice colour coordination rather than shred guitar conformity.
