Re: Man, Depreciation!
I don't think the Krank stuff ever really caught on, so their resale is pretty low. I wouldn't have thought it would have been $300 low, but the market is also in the crapper. Not long ago, you couldn't touch an old ADA MP1 for less than $300 and now you see them all the time for half that. It's just the way it is right now. If I had more disposable income, I'd be buying all kinds of crap and sitting on it til the market rebounds. In the last few weeks I've seen a couple Mesa cabs for $350/$400. Not long ago I seen an original block logo 5150 for $350. I tried to get that one, but someone got it before me. My buddy bought another dual recto for $650 and it was one of the earlier ones I believe. Even prices on the high end stuff like Bogner and Engl are coming down. I
It's a buyers market and probably will be for a good while longer. Most people need or want the extra funds, but others either don't have the cash or don't want to come off any cash in case they need it down the road. Unless you got a piece of gear that's "in" right now or something that people know will hold it's value, you're better off holding on to it until you know you're going to make some of your money back.
Cabs are a pain in the butt all the way around and almost never retain their value. They're a PITA and expensive to ship, and unless they're bedroom kings, they almost always get the crap beat out of them. The only real reasons to buy a cab new is for free shipping or for the sake of matching it to your head. Plus there's numerous options out there and there's only so many ways you can build a cab. Sure the Mesa, Marshall, Soldano, Bogner etc... cabs are nice, but there's options like Avatar where you can basically get the same thing for half the cost.
It's become a very frugal market, so you really have to be careful what you're dropping your money on if you even have the slightest possibility of wanting to resale in the future. Krank turned out to not be one of those safe bets.
