Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

I think it's turning into, "This is what I want to sell, and this is how much I need to make rent."

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

Oh that's nothing, someone post one on my local craigslist last week for $500! Haha!!

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

It's not at all like that on Nashville's Craigslist. I guess because there's so many musicians around here that people just know not to do stupid stuff like that. However, there is the occasional idiot here and there that will do something like that. When they do post an ad like that, they get called out on it too. I've seen a few ads where people will call somebody out and tell them that they are a moron for asking a certain price for something because it's not worth anything near what they're asking.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

They do that a bit here too, Jolly, but those posts get flagged... and removed. I've had a couple that that has happened to.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

For that, I'll give you...

ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

It's made with tiny bits of real Esteban...so, you know it's good. Heck, he paid $500. You're practically stealing it from him at $300.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

I saw a guy post a year old used Jet City JCA20H and matching 1x12 cab for $400 (brand new at Musicians Friend $349 + free shipping). He tried to justify the price by saying he paid over $500 for it "and had the receipts to prove it".

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

Just want to add....

I hope he isn't one of our forumites, 'cause this guy was a real jerk.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

Here's a local one. Too bad this person is insane as I would be interested in buying this if it were priced more realistically.

like new mint cond. Gibson Explorer with hardshell case. Purchased in 2008 brand new. It's the faded model, which is now discontinued, thus making this guitar more rare and valuable. 1200 OBO.

Discontinued doesn't = rare, and rare doesn't = valuable. Its just a $500 guitar.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

You can buy the non faded for less than $1200... :lmao:

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

There's a guy here trying to sell a 2006 les Paul standard for $6000.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

There has never been alot of nicer stuff posted locally, and it's always over priced if it is (Gibson, USA Fenders, PRS Marshall/Mesa etc.)

99% of what's posted around here is cheap import stuff priced around new price. Also tons of "home dealers" that grab up just about anything that does pop up for a normal used price then relist at almost new price for some "retail style" number like $399, when the new one would be $439 from MF.

2 years ago, it was all deals everywhere.

Nashville and Atlanta have a lot of good deals come up on import cheapies because there are so many more musicians and stuff for sale which makes for great competition. Occasionally, a nice high end something will pop up for a deal that's too good not to go get as well.

Re: Man, people in my town are crazy on Craigslist!

Gibson owners are the worst for this stuff. Also, craigslist is full of Gibbo fakes selling for thousands. I wouldn't buy one without getting an expert to look at it.

It's not that hard to spot a Chinese fake. Tons of tell-tale signs if you know what to look for.
