maple vs rosewood

talking fretboards, which one will sound more defined & punchy? Like on a mexi strat

i like the feel of both equally, and i was gonna get a maple one on my next guitar just cuz i'd never had one, but i figured i should consult the council first

maple or ebony would give you a brighter more defined sound i think. If your next guitar is a strat then i would suggest the maple board. I really like the feel of all my strats and teles with maple necks and boards

i personally like rosewood alot, but if i ever got anotehr strat it would have to be a maple neck, maple and fender seem to go hand in hang

I have both...... I like both. I tend to lean more towards Maple. I like the way it feels more so than the way it sounds. In general maple will be brighter than Rosewood but the Amp you play through will have some effect on this as well. A clean Amp you will hear a crisper sound from Maple, a heavy gain Amp..... I don't really hear much difference. But the guitars that I use have some other differences Pups etc. that also impacts this.

I think rosewood has a better tone.
