Marshall 1960A Cab

How are these cabs supposed to be? I found one for $200 and another for $175. The first is supposed to have a wiring problem and it can't be played in stereo, and the second is supposed to have some torn up covering. Are either of these worth buying? Any comments would be greatly appretiated. Thank you.

That price for a 1960 cabinet is an absolute steal. Wiring cabinets is as easy, if not easier than, wiring up a guitar, and schematics can be found everywhere. If you don't care much about cosmetics, go for it! I know I would.

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

I paid $600 for a full stack before and thought it was a steal so that price is great. I'd buy both. There is really no such thing as a cab wiring problem, one trip to Radio Shack and it would be fixed!!

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

if you're handy with a needle and thread you could put a sweet plad patch on your cabinet. How sweet would that look

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

That sounds like my cabinet :D I replaced the g12 speakers and hard wired it for 16 ohms. Mine is a jcm900 version and the switch was pretty cheasy.

That's a good price for a 1960a.

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

how do you wire a 4x12 to 16 ohms?? In parallel that's 4 ohms. Please explain...sorry about the brief hijack...

Series Parallel - wire 2 in series, and the other 2 in series.. then parallel the 2 series circuits together.

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

+1 to all of the above...that's an absolute steal. they're great cabinets IMO, and for that price you can't possibly go wrong.

i wish i had come across that kind of deal before i bought mine brand new...buy them both :beerchug:

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

Yeah, definitely. The 1960AV is way better but for that price....screw it. Save up for some good speakers and put em in.

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

I like the cabinets and think they are great, and wiring is easy so I would buy them. Simple as that.

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

i was thinking of getting one of those and cutting a new baffle for a 2x15 configuration...

Re: Marshall 1960A Cab

buy both, and sell one for profit, to pay for better speakers for the one you keep...... that is, if you only want one...... this is all from the standpoint of not liking the speakers in there, i didn't like those 75 watters in mine
