Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

No, thanks. I'd rather get a used JCM800 for half of that or less.

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

Is there anything different or special about the reissue? You can get a used one for 1/3 of that price or less. Is it like the Dual Reverb or SLX models?

I don't even have to see it and I can tell you it's the Dual Reverb. I wish they would reissue the MkIII or SL-X instead. $1999 reissue anything JCM 900 is too pricey IMO.

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

I have a 900 DR 50W combo. It was my main gigging amp when I was in a classic rock band a few years ago. I don't know what's different but I will say that the effects loop on mine sucked. You could not run any stomp boxes through it without it sucking all of your tone. it took me a while but I finally found a pedal that worked well enough to run through the loop. Other then the loop the amp served me well. It sounded very good with humbuckers as well as single coils.

There are just some things that should NOT be reissued. Like Polio, or Disco.

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

I've seen many used JCM900 heads go for $450-$600. I don't see it worth $2,000

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

Yeah, in the history of Marshall the JCM900 DR is about the last thing I'd picture them reissuing! The MKIII I have is pretty sweet tho!

The DSL series that came after was much better in my opinion.....

My MkIII is going for twice that price. It's the holy grail of Marshall amps...

Seriously though, there is a brand new 1959 RR in my local store (incl. matching cab) for just €1599.

So €1999 for a DR :biglaugh::smack:

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

A thousand dollars for a 4-12? This whole thing has rediculous written all over it!

Re: Marshall 50th anniversary JCM 900 Reissue

From the looks of it, it's a third generation DR with an improved effects loop. The first and second generation 900s ruined the reputation of these amps and by the time the third came out, it was too late and they discontinued the 900 DRs. The third generation amps are a completely different and vastly superior amp to the first two...if your experience is only with one of the first two, I'm with you, they suck. The third gens are one of my favorite amps. $2000 is a bit too much though.

When it comes to the DR's, yes. God, those first ones were bad. I actually don't mind the early ones that came loaded with EL34's. It was when they switched them to 5881's that they lost their mojo for me.

My MkIII is so under-appreciated. The design is perfect for me. Single channel, plenty of drive built in, dual master volumes (footswitchable). I love playing through it, though I don't as much as I used to.
