Marshall DSL401 speaker

Hi guys,

I wonder if any of you happen to have the same problem as me.
I was having a pre-Christmas gig using my Marshall DSL401. I blast the amp to 10 while having an effects pedal with preamp looping to it

When muting the guitar, the speaking seems to can't support the mute and gives a vibrating and mumbling sound instead of CLEAR MUTING sound.

Any of you had the problem ? I like the amp, but its just that 12" the Gold back series celestion speaker screwed up that day, if I were to change the speakers will it help in anyway ? Thanks guys for reading and getting back to me.

Re: Marshall DSL401 speaker

That could be the open back nature of the combo, and probally the amp lacking the power to handle the speaker in a more firm manner.
If I understood you correctly;)
And probally it does not like your booster much at ten either, that alone gives a fair amount of funny noise at that volume;)

Re: Marshall DSL401 speaker

Imp, PLEASE .. tell me what are the tubes you're using for your DSL401 ? sure it can give better muting sounds for the amp ? Cuz the current ones I'm using are quite newand I Don't know what tubes are they and when I playing muted power chords at high volume, the speaker mumbles and grumbles and THAT is irritating. It doesn't give the Clear muting sound. If its not the speakers than I'm going to change to the tubes you're using now. Thanks a million

Re: Marshall DSL401 speaker

so thats the problem.
Thanks Rid..

Sounds like the only way is either miking up at a suitable volume or getting a cab
