Marshall JCM2000 Combos (especially the DSL 401)

Re: Marshall JCM2000 Combos (especially the DSL 401)

I have one and have gigged with it a few times. It's has a good mid-rangy marshall tone and has gobs of gain. The cleans are still kinda dirty though. If you need a clean clean the 401 is not the way to go. That and the channel switching has a VERY noticable lag when going to the dirt channel. I've kept it for practice at home. It's not a bad amp but it is kind of a one trick pony.

Wow I didn't know it's that small... I think I'm just gonna try some amps out and buy the one I like most... you guys gave me some nice ideas... thanks alot

I think if you want the tone of a Plexi you have to get a.....Plexi. A Budda Superdrive 18 might do the trick but they`re pretty expensive. Good Luck!

Hmm I don't know if I really want the plexi... I mean it has this cool Vintage Distortion, but listening to artist who use DSLs... I find their sound very cool too and I think maybe a dsl is the better choice...
Let's see how much money I'll be able to spend on an amp... Maybe enough for a DSL50 or 100 + a 2x12 or 4x12, maybe just enough for the DSL401...
