$550 for that amp is dirt cheap.
That amp has collector value...it's 34 years old! The work that has been done on it so far falls under maintenance though the loss of the original power transformer does ding the value a bit. A collector would still be interested in it.
There are two distinct markets for this amp...musicians looking at it for the sound it produces and collectors/investors looking at it for its collectible and appreciating value. If you have it modded, the latter group will no longer be interested in it. It may have the same theoretic value but the number of interested parties is reduced significantly. Its true value would then be determined by the much smaller group of musicians looking for the sound it produces.
