Marshall JVM410H

Re: Marshall JVM410H

we should appraise amps according to their own merits. if there are others which are more appealing (there will definitely be), it's really a personal appeal.

Why did you sell the JVM?

Because in the end it did 4 things pretty good, but no one thing really good. When it's showing up on the used market for $900 - 1000 it will be a screaming deal. Where it's at new now there are many other amps (mostly on the used marked) that sound much better and are built infinitely better. A very reliable source told me that the circuit boards in the JVM's are built in China then sent to England for assembly. No big suprise since Korg has the Vox AC30CC's built entirely in China. No biggie - but $1600 buys you a Bogner Shiva, a few different models of Budda's, a few Soldano's, a real JCM 800, an older JMP.....

The JVM is making a bunch of people happy and thats what counts, it just didn't work for me.

Schecterplayer and I jammed on some marshalls today, I was using that one and he was using the Vintage/Modern. We had a pretty tastey tone, he was using a rivera hollowbody and i was using a casino, we were jammin out beatles tunes.

Re: Marshall JVM410H

I never understood why anyone would be scared by knobs or switches.....all it means is you have more control over your sound. As long as it sounds good, the extra options can be a blessing for someone who needs different tones on the fly.

Are guitarists that close to cavemen? Try a keyboard/workstation compared to a 4 Channel Marshall.

Anyhow, before the new Marshalls came out, I had a slight feeling the JVM would be a cooler amp than the Vintage Modern, even though everyone assumed the opposite. Everyone who's scared of knobs assumed the VM would be better. Now that I've played both, I have to say the VM is the worst sounding POS Marshall I've plugged into in years! I hated it. I couldn't get any tone that sounded good to me. The JVM, on the other hand seemed like something useful, and it's one of the better Marshalls in recent years IMO. Still no Bogner tho. I went from playing the JVM for an hour at GC to my Ecstasy at a rehearsal space, and was reminded that Reinhold Bogner completely owns everyone.

The VM is very hard to EQ correctly, but if you do it right you can nail some sweet tones, it rocks hard but i like the JVM better
