Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

yes i want to try these pedals too
to have the best engl, mesa simulation

i read there were 3 functions = preamp, sound card and amp= amazing !

and about the ht dual blackstar (pedal) would you mean that it's a preamp too ?
and about the hugues kettner tubeman 2, it will be better in the fx loop ? ok but i am not fan of this sound even in my clean channel in front of the amp

i am not sure i have a problem with hum
i have often read that a lot of distortions like metal muff, ht dual and metal zone boss had hum

and it's normal because high gain
so, i can use a Big shot radial but i use a noise gate from tc electronic with 4 cables for that too= to reduce hum with distortions

-My bedroom is not perfect for hum
i can't resolve this
my amp makes hum after the "drive section " if it's on 3-4 but no problem because
i only use the clean channel (there is only one channel )

i have "big john CIOKS" and pedal power 2+ voodoo lab
the CIOKS model is not isolated (if i remember ) so, yes i need another voodoo lab or BBE supra charger (not so expensive)

but i have not it yet

and i don't use fx loop because i would need more cables
complicated
and i only use my clean channel so, no problem

fx loop is when you use your amp with some gain and effets
but i only use pedals for some high gain situations

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

i like the sl5
it can be rock with a good pedal

but when i see evh model or others, i think it must be tried

Amt seems to have ENGL, Bogner, Diezel, Orange, Conford, 6505, Krank, Rectifier, Fender, JCM800 amp pedals, thats quite a lot of options for high gain amps in there.

The blackstar HT Dual is a distortion pedal with an option for cab simulated output, its not a preamp though. The H&K tubeman is a preamp, simialr to the amt ss20 & the amt LA2 series of pedals. Your signal chain will look like this as an example:
Guitar>OD>Preamp pedal>Delay>Amp FX Return Socket. Just two long cables, nothing gets plugged into the amp's input or fx send socket.

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

if i use the tubeman HKK like that
i will go to : guitar >input tubeman > amp send
output tube man > amp return

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

i tried the tubeman II in fx send and it works
so, are you wrong?
but my question is
how can i add pedals +preamp? because the amp's input will be empty

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

You can use pedals with preamp as usually - just plug them before preamp or in preamp's fx loop

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

yes but i mean that i must choose
- preamp
- or pedals

because i can't have both methods

i would like to say that the preamp in the "send " works when the bypass is OFF

later, i tried "return" and so "not bypass" and it worked too
so?

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

If you have the H&K with you then try this way of connecting it:

Guitar to h&k input, h&k power amp out to amp fx return. The LC15 input needs to be empty. If there is a switch on the back of the amp for the fx loop then switch it to a setting that does not say 'bypass'.

The h&k becomes the amp. Add pedals to it like you normaly would. E.g. OD will come between guitar and H&K input, Delay will come between h&k power amp out and amp fx return. Nothing gets connected to the amp's input or FX send. You get to use all your pedals around the h&k unit in any order you like.

I've never tried connecting my guitar or pedals output into an amp's fx send, because the fx send is used for sending the signal out of the amp. Not sure what would happen if i did, earth may stop moving lol

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

THANKS
for me it was logic
pedal input > send but ok
i read a lot of times that a preamp had to be in the amp's return ok :)

ok, it's my choice if i want the TUBEMAN II and pedals

or my traditional pedals in amp input like always

THE Tubeman II has a a very good 3d channel (heavy metal)
not enough gain for me

i really want to try
AMT SS 11 A OR B
AND AMT R2 OR E2

MAYBE ONE DAY :)

my thread was about the SL5 LOLLL BUT THANKS: )

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

How many times has Slash recorded or played live with one of these,or any of the vast majority of his endorsments?
He'd put his name on evening primrose oil if there was a dollar in it for him

Re: Marshall sl5 : do you like it ?

i have played again with this amp
no and no i really don't like it

or with a loud volume

i like the feedback with the guitar but that's all

it's not an amp for metal
not heavy metal
not blues
just rock but not the hard rock i liked

the sound is a little bit dark and soft

the celestion 12" speaker is really good but that's all except you can lost one ear too :)

i would like a hard laney amp but tommy Iommy and his dark design : i don't like it
