Heh...what WILL sound lke an early 70s metalface??
I don't know about the VT heads..but in the 30/50 combos, and the Tonelab SE, the Plexi is pretty good (but it takes awhile to tweak it right). The 800's are just horrible. Unfortunate for me cos that's my main sound
But yeah I'm sure a speaker change would help the 800 model (as well as the other marshall models) as the issue is DEF the structure of the mids. I think I've said it before, but if one could combine the (correct) voicings of the POD XTL, with the warmth and "feel" of the VOX VT's I think you'd have the perfect modeller!
