Re: Marshall Studio Series

Looks like Marshall has finally listened...building on the Jubilee 2525 (renamed Mini Jubilee), they have released more 20/5w models of classic amps (Made in England as well!) JCM800 / 1959SLP /

A few links to get you started:

I can definitely see myself getting one of these once they start hitting the used market

Mini 800 ain't bad... Jubilee might work for proggers and shredders

Vietnam? Price points?

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Made In England. As for price, no idea yet. Since they are MIE I imagine they won't be cheap though.

Can't wait to see a demo with someone putting a boost in front of them

Re: Marshall Studio Series

No they will not be cheap, Marshall know that made in UK is a chance to get as much as they think it's worth
But for those in the market, these are great ideas

Home, studio, or live, most guitarists have at least some situation where they'll need to control the volume.
Big amps still have that bass response though

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Is it just me or does Marshall and Gibson both seem to be headed in a very promising direction?
I’m very happy with the new gear from both companies.

I agree with your assessment
It's as if they finally sat down and asked "what are guitarists main needs and how can we meet them" rather than "our builders thought this was a cool experiment, do you think we can sell it?"

Sweetwater is showing the heads for about $1300 Combos are showing at $1500, and the cabs are $700-$800

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Not horrible....but I was hoping for about 1K. The used market should be a pretty good buy for these.

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Yes not horrible but sometimes stuff like this makes me glad for Asian production that puts amps like the OR15 within the realm of "doable" for hobbyist guys like myself who don't have the credit to finance $1400 of gear all over the place.

But it reminds me also of when I worked at Domino's and customers would complain about the price. We would always say to each other, "it's not 1990 anymore, if you're thinking a large pizza with everything should be ten dollars, you're stuck in the past".
I feel like Marshall are being... Mostly reasonable. As long as the build quality is good.

$1300ish it seems

Available for preorder w/ mid-February delivery ETA

Cabs are suspect, some sources reporting "10" V-type speakers".... whatever the hell that means, since known V-types come in 12". Misprint, G10 Vintage? Marshall Celestion exclusive?

I think I read that Celestion just announced a new 10" V-type.

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Seems like a very reasonable price for a made in UK Marshall now days. IIRC, when the new 900s came out they were in the same ballpark. Any MIA/MIE competition is at least that much if not more.

$50 more than a Mini Rec, but still less than a Fillmore 5/25 or mini MkV. Not terrible for what they are.

Re: Marshall Studio Series

Okay, maybe "very reasonable" was an over-statement, but right in the same ballpark, a lot less than a Soldano HR25.
