You might consider swapping speakers before you start choosing a pedal.
Some years ago I bought a crate ss because my budget was and still is very tight. I was unhappy with the crate and a local repair man suggested a speaker swap first.
He took out the speaker and compared it to a couple of Emminence, celestion and heaevy duty crate speakers he had on hand. The stock speaker was light weight w/a small coil.
I ended up going with an Emmince. This part change made a good amount of difference in the amp-the clean channel now has some dynamics and the crunch channel has some attitude. I decided to keep the amp and have it on a speaker stand in the living room. Also, pedals sound much better thorough the amp after the swap.
