Re: Marshall vs Laney

Internet messageboard polls are worthless. This poll has no kind of real world credibility about anything other than the approx 40 users polled here. Seriously.

Agreed. Although I'm surprised Laney is doing this well in the poll, the respondents hardly make up a representative sample.

Re: Marshall vs Laney

Obviously this thread has gone to crap! Look if you want to be narrow minded and uninformed about gear that's your problem. I'm done trying to convince anyone otherwise. I guess I was wrong for thinking this was a place where professional musicians can have an open and informed discourse about gear. I'm tired of being attacked just for trying to keep the discussion rational and informed.

:bsflag:

Attack us for our "narrowmindedness"? Then cry about it cos we are "attacking" you?

:dunce:

Nobody is saying Laney is crap- you really need to go re-read the points people are making, and stop being so **** defensive. Its like talking to a 6 year old.

That was so uncalled for. Yes! You sound so mature in this post!

Re: Marshall vs Laney

Guys, how about kindly agreeing to disagree? Those who love their Marshalls will love them from now till eternity, and the same goes for those who love their Laneys. It's OK to have allegiances to different brands and models.

I do feel like this has become a thread about trying to get one person think one thing over another. The real convincing comes from sitting in front of one amp or the other (or both!) and running it through its paces. If someone doesn't do that, they aren't entitled to dis on the amp. That said, there's no reason why anyone has to try out either or both amps.

Since day one you have elicited that kind of response from a BUNCH of posters around here.

Ever think that maybe the problem isn't us? Your constant arguing with people who don't agree with you and then getting offended (all the while claiming it's all opinion anyway when the position suits your argument) is getting really tiresome. :lame:

This isn't about me. You could at least have the respect and common decency to address personal issues with me via PM instead of displaying it for the whole board to see. At least I've been respectful which is more than I can say for you.

Re: Marshall vs Laney

No one is being "narrow minded" or "attacking" you, but you don't seem to understand the reality. The points I made are why Laney is what it is. The amp is nothing special and that fact is confirmed by those who have owned, or played through them, and the amount of market share that Laney holds.

You may LOVE the map, and that is great. However trying to convince the rest of the world to love them is an exercise in futility.

And how many times have posted this?

Stop being a forum drama-queen. I don't need to "take you aside' and talk to you in private like I would my son when he's acting childish.

Don't make me give you a time out!

Re: Marshall vs Laney

I sure hope you are not making any business decisions based on six Harmony Central reviews.

Please stop, you are never going change the fact that Laney does not have anything that is in great demand. We can debate the reasons why until the cows come home, but that still doesn't change anything.

I think it's clear that I'm not debating whether they are in great demand. The point I'm defending is that Laney is a solid company and makes really good amplifiers. Look, I sell them. I play them. Of course I'll defend them when people post misinformed information about them.

Re: Marshall vs Laney

You two done yet? It would be nice to get back to a real gear discussion.

You mean the kind where everyone has to agree with you?

Cos that seems to be the only kind of "real gear discussion" you are capable of handling.

Anyhoo, now I'm done :dunce:

LOL! That's definitely not it but I have good reason to laugh!

Actually the kind where you demonstrate some actual knowledge and first hand experience with the products in question. That's the kind of discussion I really like to participate in!

Re: Marshall vs Laney

Ok, kids, let's play nice. Sheesh.

Laney does make good amps and they are a solid company, I agree with that. Their presence in the U.S. market is but a fraction of Marshall's and that right there is what is keeping them from being bigger than what they could be. It has nothing to do with the product whatsoever.

I have played both and worked in a shop in the 90's that sold both. We moved more Marshalls than Laneys. Both product lines sat next to each other in the amp section. It wasn't a matter of how we promoted one or the other, it was plain simple the fact that potential buyers that came in wanted to try the Marshalls over the Laneys because their favorite players used them. Again, this takes nothing away from Laney's products.

For me personally, I voted Marshall. A Marshall gives me the tone I like. Now granted, My Marshall needs to be fixed at the moment but what happened to it can happen to any amp, and does. It's just the nature of owning a tube amp. So, I use a Marshall voiced model from my Vox AD50VT. Works for me in the meantime.

How is that VOX Marshall amp model? Do you like it better than similar Line6 or Boss models?
