Lets just settle this once and for all
Let's see how many people here prefer Marshall over Mesa and Mesa Over Marshall.

Re: Marshall Vs. Mesa

When I was a kid I always wanted marshall then when I got older and finally was on the market for a "real" amp, I started testing out amps. The new marshalls disappointed me alot, I hated every dsl 40 and 60 that I had tried and all of the MG stuff didn't interest me. I love the Mesa F series they sounds nice!

Re: Marshall Vs. Mesa

Bog.......Er, I mean Marshall. The reason is that every Mesa seems to have a plasticky undertone or a buzzy grit to the gain. Marshalls have a woody undertone and the mids cut through the mix, which is more pleasing to my ears.

After having a bunch from both companies, I've realized that Bogner buries both of them like a Tsunami.

Re: Marshall Vs. Mesa

Isn't a Mesa just a Marshall knock-off tuned to sound like it is coming through an old lady's nose??? :13:

My favorite review quote from hackmoney central is

I'm sorry, but Rectum Friers have a tone that sounds like a blender full of rocks. :laugh2:

By the way, someone should move this thread to it's proper place...the Guitar Shop.
I put it here because I wanted it more of a general opinion rather than anything specific or technical.
But mabye your right.

Re: Marshall Vs. Mesa

If you held a gun to my head I'd pick Marshall.

Sure, I play a Rectoverb, but bear in mind that no other Mesa amp has really appealed to me in the way that one has. Plus that rectoverb does everything a DSL50 does and it will do it better.

I'm a fan of that British sound in general, too. So Marshall gets the nod.

It's been a year or more, but I beleive I read on this forum that a mesa is actually more like a hot rodded fender- and is quite different from a marshal. I have no clue. Maybe someone will chime in.

Mesa & Fender would be somewhat similar in the sense that they both use 6l6's primarily and Marshalls use the EL34's, The basic two distictive sounds...

Mabye i should have posted it in the Guitar Shop

Sorry Guys :smack:

Re: Marshall Vs. Mesa

Marshall all the way. The best minds in metal used and are known for using Marshalls. And to my ears, they just sound better.
