Megaswitch M wiring diagram

Does anyone have a two humbuckers wiring diagram for the Megaswitch Version M, other than the one that comes with the switch? I would like to have position 2, bridge humbucker in parallel and position 4, neck humbucker in parallel and the rest of the position with standard setup.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure exactly what the Megaswitch Version M is. A photograph or a detailed written description would help.

Some Ibanez guitars are wired to do something very similar to what you desire. You need to deviate slightly from the Ibanez circuit so that position 2 on your instrument will give the bridge PU in parallel (rather than Ibanez's option of tapped bridge and tapped neck in parallel).

If I find the correct diagram, I shall add it to this posting later.

Re: Megaswitch M wiring diagram

Before I spend hours trying to work this out myself, maybe someone has a link? Seems like a pretty reasonable combination that someone else must have found useful:

two humbuckersL

Position 1: neck only
Position 2: Neck and bridge in series
Position 3: Neck and bridge in parallel
Position 4: Neck and bridge outer cois
Position 5: Bridge only

This guitar has a single volume and single tone control, so my plan is to use the volume control to put one pickup on or out of phase, and then implement a BMP-variation on the tone control, with a pull switch to bypass it (since it's a more lossy circuit than the standard treble bleed tone control).

My gut tells me the 4-pole variation Mega Switch should be adequate, but will go with the 8-pole if I must.

Thanks!

I think if you want the outer coils to be humbucking, you might have to flip a magnet on one of the pickups. Also, 2 humbuckers in series is gonna be a pretty thick sound.

My mistake - I want the two single-coils to be humbucking, so I'd want on N and one S. I've used the 'Jimmy Page' wiring on all my gibson-type guitars in the past, and actually use the 2-in-series-in-phase quite a bit. With the right EQ can get pretty close to a jazz-box tone. I also use the out-of-phase combinations frequenty -- can almost get a Gretsch sound. I actually don't use coil splitting much, and include that option only because there's 5 positions. On my Tele Custom I have two mini humbuckers, both with 3-way mini switches for parallel/series/coil tap, as well as push pulls to put the pickups in series/parallel and in/out phase, as well as, a 6-position varitone-type circuit. It's a great setup for finding out what I would or wouldn't actually use, but way more than I really need. Also, the Scheckter that I'm modding now just has a single volume and a single tone, and I don't want to add a lot of switches that will just confuse me after a few .... drinks ....8^)

Okay, I think I've got this. (Haven't tried it yet, so approach with caution).mega-switch.jpg

Re: Megaswitch M wiring diagram

Thanks -- I downloaded all of the stuff from their site. Nothing exactly what I needed, but provided enough info to work out my own solution (see my previous post). Of course, whether or not it works will remain to be seen.

Re: Megaswitch M wiring diagram

Just noticed an error in my diagram -- position 4 is labeled "Neck North Coil + Bridge South Coil (series)" when in fact the coils are parallel. Here is the diagram modified to put them in series, which is what I originally intended, though now I'm not sure how I want to do it.

Re: Megaswitch M wiring diagram

Here's my final design, including the vol and tone controls. Added one mini DPDT toggle that will allow me to switch the north-south coils between series and parallel in position 4.
