Re: Mesa Boogie 2x12 Cab Frustrations - HELP!
Actually, I must confess - the Bogner tone is magical. I would build around it. It gives you the huge cleans, the bloom, responsiveness, saturation, adn it records like a dream. One good Bogner and you can add anythign with it you want - Marshall, Soldano, etc.
First amp I played that can really do R&B, blues, Jazz, hard rock, metal, and the tone doesn't let you lie or hide. That's why I started figuring a Bogner cab was a good addition. I never realized how much differently brands voice their cabs.
I love the Mesa C90, but never had a ton of luck recording it. I think I like that its balanced, bassy and not harsh - the very things that keep it from owning a mix. I have not used it as often WITH V30s, perhaPs that's a mistake. The other problem - they need to get REALLY loud to sound good, and then they are too loud.
I haev almost sold both of my Mesa cabs.
LOCALLY THERE IS A BOGNER WITH GREENBACKS AND A BOGNER WITH GREENBACKS/G12M70S FOR SALE BOTH 4X12... HMMMMMMM. I usually take a 2x12 live. So do I go 2x12 + my combo or with my heads, or get a second 4x12? If I get a second 4x12 - V30s or Greenbacks, G12H30s or a mix?
Any negatives in wiring for stereo? I like the idea of 2 heads thru one cab.
