Mesa Boogie Cab Clone and similar devices

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone and similar devices

There's a great one called two notes torpedo live. It's a cool $1000 though.

Another one called blue box or something like that. From Germany. It's not a load box for tube amps though.

I have this unit also it is highly recommended. This is my main cab sim when I prefer to use my analogue setup. My backup is Digitech's Cab Dry.

Also I have Fractal AX8.:cool2:

H&K Redbox?

I have a Redbox 5 that I use for silent headphone practice on a solid-state amp. You could use it with a tube amp if you were able to run a cabinet or a load box. I think it sounds really good for what I use it for. The feature set is nice but not exhaustive.

I have never looked into any of the cheaper options out there, but I get the sense many of them don't include a loadbox, just a cab SIM that requires you to have a cab/load plugged in at the same time.

Found a Palmer PGA-04 (ADIG-LB) for $350 CAD from a local studio guy almost 2 years ago, and it's been fantastic. It's totally analogue, has a cab SIM "filter" section and an unfiltered direct output, along with a loadbox built-in so I don't need a cab at all. Going straight into my interface with a touch of room verb, it gets pretty damn close to a real mic'd cab, quite a bit of tone shaping options, and I can juice my Mark IV as much as I want. I'm still toying with the idea of loading my head, the Palmer, and a power conditioner in an 8-space rack so I can do gigs without a cabinet.

Sounds like it might be just what you need. If you have a monitor in front of you, and the soundman can blast you out the PA at any volume, you're golden.

No idea what these go for new, maybe $600+. But check it out.

The Two Notes Torpedo Captor includes a reactive load box for $249 which is quite the steal. The biggest drawback IMO is that impedance isn't switchable, you're stuck with 16, 8, or 4 ohms.

A 200W Julius reactive loadbox I got off Reverb.com for $60 paired with an AMT CN-1 Cab sim pedal ($80) or Mooer Radar which loads IR's ($150) is what works really nicely for me :bigthumb:
