mesa boogie~stilettos

Re: mesa boogie~stilettos

Probably because Guitar Center recently had a huge blowout sale at really low prices. Some people probably just bought them to resell. I guess Mesa has made some mods to the amp to improve it, so the unmodded ones were all being discounted to sell them. I heard that Mesa will mod it to the newer specs for $60 or something like that.

True true and also true. Some people might also be selling their Duece(100W) or Trident(150W) so they can get the new Stiletto Ace(50W).

THis is probably MOST of the reason I´d wager, cripes even I was considering saving 1000 dollars and having one shoipped over here and modded....

Re: mesa boogie~stilettos

Actually, the older Stilettos cannot be made to sound like the new versions. It seems that the newer Stilettos have not only more gain, but have also been revoiced.

The old ones can be modified by Mesa with what's been called the "Hollywood Mod". Seems it adds more gain and bass response.

Regardless, the amp was an incredible deal at GC, and sounds very good without any mods. I know for a fact that Mesa was not happy about GC blowing them out at half price.

My Understanding is that the "Hollywood Mod" actually does change the Fluid gain channel to current specs, but I´m no Mesa tech and am looking for another brand for non-tonal reasons anyway...;)
