Mesa boogie

Re: Mesa boogie

Hmmm what do you guys about mesa combos? The local shop has a mesa nomad 45 and it has like 4 seperate channels. I guess it wouldn't sound as big as a single rectifier into 4x12's huh? Thats important because I gig and play in a live setting.

That depends on the size of said live setting. My guess is that a Nomad would be plenty.

Re: Mesa boogie

There's really no reason to get a Dual or Triple Rectifer, or the Stiletto Deuce or Trident, unless you REALLY NEED skull crushing power. These are big amps for big stages and BIG arenas--totall overkill for most small to medium clubs. You would be much better served by a lesser power amp.

Mesa amps are not amps where you need to dime the controls. I strongly recomend that you review the Mesa website--check out some of the Owner's Manuals. They offer a lot of clues about how to get the best tones from these amps.

The Stiletto Deuce is another excellent Mesa offering, though with a distinctly British attitude. The venerable Mark IV is also highly respected by many great guitarists, but has a fairly steep learning curve. It's not the best choice if you suffer from what psychologists call "Low Frustration Tolerance". The new Roadster and Road King offer some fabulous capability as well, suitable for a wide variety of musical styles and venues.

And don't be shy about giving the techs at Mesa Boogie a call--they can give you some helpful advice.
