How well does it play with an amp that's already breaking up a bit? And does it stack well with other types of pedals? I've been thinking about adding one to my rig to get a slightly beefier rhythm tone out of my current rig. I recently had my first show with my new band and after listening to some (albeit low quality) videos, I realized I need to do something to bring my guitar up in the mix a bit. (We were playing unmiced, so a place anyplace we can mic will help out with that)
The other guitar player plays a Les Paul into a Mesa Mark 3, and I play a tele into a Fender Deluxe based amp. My solos were fine with my EHX Crayon as a lead boost, but my rhythm playing faded in and out. I've worked on the EQ of my amp a bit to accentuate my mids and highs, upped the output on my comp pedal and on my Archer (always on). I also plan on replacing the stock MIM Standard pickups in my tele with the new TV Jones tele set.
What I'm hoping to use the Flux 5 for is highly tweakable pedal that I can turn on for certain songs in the rhythm parts to avoid getting buried by the Paul/Mesa combo. I know that the EQ tweaks will help more than anything else. So this is also just a flimsy excuse to buy a new toy that I've had my eye on for a while but couldn't justify the need for in my old classic country band.
