Mesa Mark IV...

I know this amp has probably been discussed a lot, I'm talking about the head... but I'm curious. Is Mesa still producing these? And if so, how much would a new one run for? If not, where would I find one and how much could I get one for!

One more question pertaining to it. Unless I'm mistaken, Lamb of God and a bunch of other metal bands use Mark IVs, so have any of you had any experience with them? Are they suited to high gain/metal styles, as well as nice cleans?

Re: Mesa Mark IV...

Mark IV's are suited to metal and have beautiful cleans...

You can get new Mark IV's, prices are dependent on the country your in.
I think their 1700 usd in the states.

Used, they run from 800-1100 usd.

Not mistaken at all, but keep in mind that Lamb of God ran 3 amps on the new album. 80% MKIV, 10% Marshall JTM45, 10% Sansamp GT2.

A beautiful sounding amp, both for cleans and metal. Just not 1600 beautiful to me.

I'm actually looking for a MArk IV to buy and i'll tell you what makes it so amazing.

Versatility. The cleans are very Fender-style. Tweaking it right will give you the Pearl Jam "Yellow Ledbetter" sound. Theres also another rythm channel that I didn;'t fool around with.

The distortions sound absolutely amazing too.

2 FX loops. One is always on, the other can be switched on and off.'

Reverb.

I can't say enough about this amp ... you really need to play one for yourself or at least an hour to tweak this amp to see how great it is.

Mk IV's are very versatile. I did hear from the tech at Mesa/Boogie Hollywood that they are coming out with a Mk V soon, so the Mk IV will be discontinued in a year or so.
