I know these are new and there are only a few out there. But has anyone here taken one for test drive? I am in the market for a new tube combo and the ad reads just like what Im looking for.

Tried to post this same question a week ago or so, and didn't get many replies. Not many people playing it apparently. Have you checked out Andy Timmons new CD "Resolution" yet? Thats what he plays his Ibanez through and it is a killer tone!! He is the reason I was interested in it in the first place. You can search for my other thread and read a couple of comments there.

On a slightly unrelated note.. even with the Dimarzio-ness (dont kill me..) I really really love his signature model guitar, it sounds and feels great. And its not like.. shamelessly signature, unlike the JEM.

I was getting really interested in the Stiletto Ace, but my interest waned when I realized that they did not put a spring reverb into the combo.
The Lone Star has a nice 'verb--I just wish they would have included it in The Ace.

GUITAR ONE magazine finally has a review of the Stiletto Ace in the new October 2006 issue, just got it today. They give it their "GUITAR ONE Mark of Excellence Award", so I would say it is no slouch.
Mesas such as the Stilleto and Lonestar are not known as "plug and play" amps. There is a LOT of sonic territory there with all the different modes, different rectifier/diode selections, and different power settings. It would take hours/days and a lot of tweaking to come to the conclusion that there are no useable tones in there. I had a chance to play one for a few minutes on only a couple of settings, and the clean and crunch channel sounded spectacular to me. I only wish I has had a chance to tweak it more and crank it up. I was running a Deluxe American Strat w/ 2 SC single coils and one DH-1 Humbucker through it, good quality puckups make a difference too.

The original is def not plug & play (nor is the Lonestar)....It took me 3 tries at the music store to finally get it to "live up" to it's advertising...it takes some time and tweaking...but once ya get it right...:bowdown:
They also, like a Marshall..really are speaker dependant (at least the deuce I tried). There's some clips over on HC from a fellow named Dannyeo or something like that who ran his into some Greenbacks, and it had some of the best Marshall tone I've ever heard.
