Mesa Walkabout 300w head

I own a Mesa walkabout and Im looking for a cab that will really make floor shake and give me all the bottom end i need. I was looking at peavey 115 cab but still not sure if this is a good idea. If any one has any sugestions they would be great.

What kind of cabinet is the 115? I can't speak to a 2x12 cab, but I would assume for the best you would want a 4x12, maybe Avatar as people say only good things about how great those cabs are.

if it's 300 watts you'll need a 4x12 with some eminence speakers, as they have higher wattage handling than celestions as a general rule

Generally speaking, 12s aren't regarded as the best bass speakers. While a 2x12 that's voiced and loaded with speakers that'll handle the power would be cool, I would personally lean towards a 1x15 cab with 300w. Again, make sure the speaker is going to handle the power and bottom end you're going to be running through it. I always thought the EV loaded 1x15 GK cabs were a pretty good deal, and I'm sure there's better speakers for less money these days.

Your walkabout head will deliver 300 watts @ 4 ohms and these are available at 4 ohms/300 watts.

If you want to get the most from that head you want your speaker load at 4 ohms. If you get an 8 ohm cab you'll lose almost have your wattage.

Ehm, guys, we´re talking BASS amps here... a 4x12 is hardly ideal for most there

I personally would go with a 4x10 +1x18 (or even 2x18) setup... The 18 will give you the earth moving lows and low mids, while the 4x10 will give you your presence and sparkle....

you should get a 4x10 and a 1x15. the 10's will handle the nice bass punch while the 15 will take the low end. or you could go for an 8x10....

Are you looking for kick in the chest, or floor rumbling? Kick in the chest is all 10's. Floor rumbling is any combination of 10 with 15/18. If you're really brave, there are a couple 2x15 cabs out there.

For the non-bass players here- 300w SS isn't really enough to forcefully push a 4x10+1x15 in a rock gigging situation. Yes, it can be done (if the impedances match up)- but you're not going to get either the headroom or the "kick" of the bottom end. A "rough" guide is 250-300w SS per cab- if you're running full range.
