Meshuggah pickups

I've always been a fan of the Meshuggah guitar sound, especially Frederick Thorendals airy lead tone.

On the meshuggah boards they have a list of Fredericks gear that he's used but it doesn't mention what pickups. It mentions an Ibanez Universe as apart of his setup so would I be right to assume that he uses/used Dimarzio pickups? Dimarzio breeds?

I know that certain pickups alone wouldn't get me the Meshuggah sound as his amps and phenomenal technique play a greater role in that but I'm really curious none the less. I can't seem to find really any specific information.

The pickups in the 8-strings are custom wound Lundgrens, http://www.lundgren.se

Thanks for the link Zerb but I'm also still more curious as to what they use in their 7-strings Ibanez guitars than the Nevborn 8-string guitars. I'm talking more along the lines of their earlier material such as Contradictions Collapse, Nothing, and Destroy Erase Improve. I'm wondering what pickup would come the closest to their sound in a six-string version.

I'm listening to "Nothing" right now. I don't know what they're using, but most of the sounds I'm hearing seem pretty attainable given even my modest skills and gear (and skill with gear...). The lead sounds on this record, in particular, sound a lot like the slightly squeaky/slithery sound I can get with a Custom through one of a couple of modern high-gain amp models.

I'm listening to "Nothing" right now. I don't know what they're using, but most of the sounds I'm hearing seem pretty attainable given even my modest skills and gear (and skill with gear...). That's because its all done with a POD, really. The guys are revolutionizing the way people play metal, IMO.

Sampled drums on Catch 33 that sound orgasmic, playing shows with no bassists or cabinets, etc.

I've been thinking of buying another one of their records, but I kinda find that whenever I'm in the mood for their brand of metal, I listen to "Nothing" and I'm satisfied. I had a roomate in college who had some of their other stuff (which is why I know them at all, since I'm mostly a punk/post-punk guy...) but I've only ever bought this one. Same thing with Therion, really...one record seems to do as much for me as four would.

Do yourself a favor and pickup Destroy Erase Improve and Chaosphere. New Mellenium Cyanide Christ is worth the cost of Chaosphere alone. :saeek:
