Re: METAL/NOT METAL

Metal lies not in the instrument as much as in the mind and hands of the one playing it.

Re: METAL/NOT METAL

I am drunk, but I no longer think classic instruments are modern metal worthy.
I am recently rethinking my entire strategy, and may even be offloading my mint beloved '78 JMP.
Classic instruments are not engineered for modern metal, and sound best for classic heavy metal. There really isn't even a gray area..modern metal guitars are perfected for the genre.
Youu need a high gain amp..at least a 6505, but better still a Recto or Diezel or VHT .

^ WE would ...if i didnt play one million dollars worth of gear... and if you don't *** you.
Honestly..I played a 58 Paul, a 58 Tele, all kinds of crap, and to be real frank, my cheap Epi Zakk Wylde Paul is better for modern metal. And Amps?...I mean, even a a IIC+ amp, which is astonishing , and literally smokes my '78 JMP,;..none of those are Metal(WHAT??!!). MY Wylde Epi Les Paul which borders on the verge of classic vs. Metal..Sorry.And amps..no, 6505 and modern high gain!
Don't get me wrong here./..I still love classic hard rock guitars ansd amps, but we have a whole lot of head games going on here..and sometimes they leak out.

^ let me try and put it to you this way, and I'll leave it at that..Your guitars are garbage..the guitars I play are worth a million dollars...now..the trolled is become the troll.

Re: METAL/NOT METAL

let me clarify this.. obviously an idiot like me does not own 1 million dollars of guitars, but I do play them at a studio I work for, and they are best for classic hard rock and heavy metal, not modern metal,..period. My Zakk Wylde Epi is much better for that..and even that is bordering on Classic Metal.
And the amps- my Marshall JMP , which just got SEVERELY Pwned by a MKIIC+; BOTH are still probably best left to classic heavy metal and not modern. I'd easily start with at least a Peavey 6505 for that. I'm really getting heavily into modern metal, even though I'm pretty ancient myself.
Just my opinion.

Re: METAL/NOT METAL

I have often heard people play on crap instruments and still make them sound good. Some of that vintage stuff was just a step or two above crap. 'Course they also used some pedals sometimes that were not quite vintage ( and I do me pedals, not rack mount size modelers.)
