My old Scarab 2 is going to get a Lovecraftian makeover and I'm going to cover all of the edge, back and the small face dings with gooey purple tentacles. I'm also going to add a big knotted tentacle to the headstock as it's one of those droopy Fenderish heads and not that hockey stick one.
My question is what should I use to apply this graphic? I was thinking about doing a very 60's comic book style linework and halftone style design laying flat, but I'm not hot on doing fillwork just to cover it over. I'd like it to be a little impasto, AKA sticking out. Imagine purple tentacles about the thickness of fruit roll-ups, only totally opaque and hard clearcoated.
Do you think doing the design in 2 part epoxy clay would be a good idea?
