Re: Metronomes

Yeah, some of them, but certainly not all. Both skills are important. But usually when I want to play with drums, I play with a drummer.

Re: Metronomes

The music does "breathe" with a live drummer

But without some kind of time keeping
I find I'm all over the place
If I just make a loop of rhythm guitar or bass to play off of
Without some drum loop going it's liable to speed up and slow down
Even with the beat, I can't be trusted

Re: Metronomes

I am the time-domain equivalent of tone deaf. (I am also tone deaf, as well. Don’t tell my guitars.)

Re: Metronomes

A Metronome helps me stay in time during practice. Because practice is what it is I think I hurry through it. So the metronome is an anchoring point and slows me down. I have a Korg MA-1.

Good answer, good attitude. Thanks. I think I need two.
