Well fender strats aren't really built for speed.

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

Speed is in the hands of the player. If you get comfortable with a neck, it doesn't matter if it's a U shaped tele, a fat*ss Gibson vintage 50's neck or a thin Ibanez, they'll all shred.

I used to be slow back when I owned my Gibson Les Paul Standard. I thought it was just the style of neck. When I got my thinner G&L, I worked on it so that I could go faster. I then went back to beefy necks with my Grosh and playing fast on it was no problem whatsoever.

In short, Yngwie says it all :laugh2:

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

First of all I'll say blanket statements are bad. Second I'll say that there are some major strat turds....no other word than that, turds. There are RG turds...tele turds....LP turds. Every major manufacturer has turds. You (unfortunately) have to sort through. When you spend that much you should expect more, the reason I'm not a gibson fan. If you want a brand that every single one of them is spectacular then don't go to GC go to a private luthier or boutique dealers.

Fenders for the price (ESPECIALLY HWY 1's) are GREAT bang for the buck. Over a grand for a Fender is bordering on madness in my book though. Anyways you won't find an Ibanez with a microtilt, or any great original designs. (no offense intended to any ibanez fans)

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

Fender is just as inconsistant as Gibson or any other big guitar company. IMO, you should try out at least 5 to 10 MIA Strats before making a decision. When you find a good one, you will find out that they play and sound as good, as the Vintage Strats.

Ive played alot of crappy MIAs and even more good ones, good thing i bought a good one! :smoker:

When you find the Right one, there is no turning back. :smoker:

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

If you're losing interest in Fender Strats then it's definitely worth investigating G&L or Music Man Silhouettes. Great strat-style guitars for the money.

When I was looking for a strat I ended up buying a used G&L Legacy because it was much better a guitar for the money I could spend.

Not really. For over-rated and over-priced please refer to Gibson.

Gibson = highly over-rated & over-priced, but most of them are pretty decent

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

Yes, here's my statement. The guitars aren't bad, they just don't seem to live up to the hype. The tone is great, but not as great as anticipated. There is, however, some Fenders that are great. IMO, the MIA should cost as much as any other MI? guitar. BTW, I was playing at a guitar center in Chicago that has "the gibson room" as I call it, which has a whole bunch of tube amps and is sound proof. So yea, I played the Amp around a 12 o clock

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

Im just curios with all respect, what guitars do you think live up to their "hype, or what guitars do you prefer, what do you play?

Re: MIA Fenders are over rated.

well, i think if you look at inflation, the average gibby is the same price as the old ones, and so are fenders, but a bit cheaper. I think one just needs to work and raise decent money to make one solid investment on a guitar. I played tons of deluxes before i settled with mine at the store and it had much smoother feel than all the other guitars, costed 800 w/ rebate, im glad i bought it.

The Fender/gibson bashing posts are getting a little old though. Suck it up and buy one good guitar that will last you a long time.
